St. Michael the Archangel Church is nestled in the heart of small town of Fairfield, located at the northern tip of Nelson County. The Church is surrounded by beautiful country scenery. The charming scenery is not the only thing that has drawn many to this church. St. Michael's boasts an extremely rich history. It is the site of the third oldest Catholic Parish west of the Alleghenies. It is one of the few churches that can claim to be a birthplace of Catholicism in this state. As rich and fascinating as the history of St. Michael's is, it is the people that make the church what it is today.
St. Michael's is the perfect mixture of faith and family. The close ties and friendliness of St. Michael's parishioners make this parish feel like family in no time at all. As a new parishioner of this small church, you can be expected to be welcomed upon arrival. You are immediately taken in as part of the family. The atmosphere allows those who wish to share celebrations and life milestones with one another possible and welcomed. It is a very open and loving community that is easy to call home.
